Bouygues Telecom faces privacy complaint over tracking pixels in customer comms

Friday 13 August 2021 | 11:14 CET | News
France's data protection watchdog Cnil has received a complaint from privacy campaign organisation eWatchers.org about the use of tracking pixels by Bouygues Telecom. The telecom operator is accused of sending emails containing these tracking tools to its customer base without appropriate consent. It has allegedly set up hidden pixels using Google Analytics and online marketing specialist Weborama, which could have led to personal information being shared with third parties when end-users opened the email.
