Brazil antitrust seeks clarifications on WhatsApp payment service from Cielo, Facebook

Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) has asked Cielo and Facebook for clarification about the payment service launched over WhatsApp in June, but then blocked by the Central Bank. Cade also wants the details of the compensation provided for each party. In a document seen by Reuters, Cade asked the companies to answer 12 questions by 10 August and requested information on whether the WhatsApp payment service will work as a payment enabler or sub-credentiator.
