Brazil broadband connections grow 8% in 2014

The number of fixed broadband connections in Brazil rose 8 percent last year to 23.97 million, equal to a household penetration of 36.5 percent, according to figures from Anatel. Penetration was highest in the Federal District, at over two-thirds of homes, and in Sao Paolo, at over 60 percent. The most common technology used was DSL, with 55.2 percent of connections, followed by cable modem, with 31.6 percent. Fibre accounted for just under 4 percent of broadband subscriptions.
