Brazil issues decree on adapting fixed telephony concessions

Monday 22 June 2020 | 15:39 CET | News
The Brazilian government issued a decree implementing the new regulatory model for telecommunications, amended by Law 13,879 of 2019. The amendment allows the migration of fixed telephony concessions to licenses and establishes the rules for companies that decide to make this transition. The changes will be defined by a regulation of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to be published within six months. Companies that opt for the change will no longer be subject to state controls on universalization goals, continuity obligations and tariff controls.
