Brazilian regulator grants consent for Hughes-Yahsat JV

Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has published its prior consent in the Official Gazette for the transfer of indirect control from Hughes to Yahsat, creating a JV to offer broadband services via satellite in Brazil. The decision is valid for a period of 180 days from the date of publication.

The regulator recalled that the two companies have a small market share. According to data from September 2019, the market share of Hughes was 0.56 percent of lines and Yahsat's was 0.0576 percent.
