Brein gets green light for illegal upload detection system

The Dutch anti-piracy foundation Brein has received permission from the Data Protection Authority to use a new system that detects illegal uploaders, the foundation said in its annual report. The foundation said earlier that it wants to see how many times people illegally upload content in a period of 12 weeks. It would then assess a fine for costs and damages that could quickly reach many thousands of euros.
