Brein threatens Popcorn Time users with fines

Tuesday 20 October 2015 | 13:10 CET | News
Consumers in the Netherlands using the Popcorn Time service run the risk of a fine, Tim Kuik, director of anti-piracy group Brein, said on BNR. While the Brein foundation has focused on legal action to take down services like Popcorn Time for accessing copyright-protected music and video, Kuik said individual copyright holders could start going after individual consumers accessing their content illegally. They may pursue fines, in cooperation with Brein, within the next month, he said. His comments follow the release of the latest version of Popcorn Time.
