
BT Retail revenue was flat in the quarter at GBP 1.85 billion, with EBITDA up 5 percent year-on-year to GBP 511 million, and operating profit up 8 percent to GBP 413 million. It added 136,000 retail broadband customers in Q4, representing 48 percent of the DSL and fibre broadband market net additions. It added 211,000 retail fibre broadband to reach around 1.3 million. TV net additions increased to 40,000 to reach a total of 810,000 customers. The number of BT Wi-fi hotspots reached over 5 million at end-March, with Wi-fi minutes reaching 4.7 billion in the fourth quarter and over 13 billion for the year.
BT Openreach passed a further 1.8 million premises with fibre broadband in Q4, for an increase of 6.2 million for the year, equal to growth of around 120,000 per week. It has now passed more than 15 million premises. It achieved around 270,000 fibre connections in Q4, with more than 1.5 million homes and businesses now connected. In the quarter BT won 10 Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) regional bids to deploy fibre broadband. This brings the total number of bids won in the year to 19.
BT Global Services saw revenue fall 3 percent in Q4 to GBP 1.93 billion, from GBP 1.99 billion a year earlier, including a GBP 18 million decline in transit revenue, an GBP 8 million impact from disposals and a GBP 10 million positive impact from foreign exchange movements. Order intake was GBP 2.0 billion in the quarter (Q3 2012/13: GBP 1.9 billion; Q4 2011/12: GBP 2 billion) and GBP 6.3 billion in the year. EBITDA for BT Global Services was up 15 percent to GBP 214 million in Q4, from GBP 186 million a year earlier, with operating profit up to GBP 55 million, from GBP 8 million.
