BT CEO threatens lawsuits over forced Openreach sale

BT has threatened lawsuits and cuts to investment if the regulator Ofcom forces it to hive off its fixed network. CEO Gavin Patterson said in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph that an attempt to force him to sell off Openreach, its wholesale network division, would be met with litigation and stopping investment in the network and turning to the courts. BT is delaying plans for further upgrades to "ultrafast" broadband, including the possible roll-out of G.fast, until Ofcom completes its once-in-a-decade review of the market. As well as threatening to cut investment, Patterson highlighted
