BT CEO writes to MPs defending broadband roll-out

BT Group CEO Gavin Patterson has written to all 650 UK MPs warning that investment will drop if BT Openreach is broken up, forcing homes to wait longer for broadband access, reports The Telegraph. In the private letters, seen by the newspaper, Patterson claims that BT's broadband roll-out is viewed as a success story worldwide. He attacked the notion that BT was an 'old-fashioned, unchallenged monopoly' and gave a point-by-point rebuttal of a recent critical report from MP Grant Shapps. Patterson called the report 'misleading and inaccurate'. The letters are understood to have angered some
