BT introduces Ultrafast Fibre with 100 Mbps speed guarantee

BT Consumer has announced the launch of 'Ultrafast Fibre' broadband with a 100 Mbps speed guarantee. Customers will be paid GBP 20 in compensation if their download speed falls below 100 Mbps, with BT claiming to be the only UK ISP to offer these speeds with a guarantee, backed by compensation.

The UK operator is launching two broadband packages under the Ultrafast Fibre name, with speeds of up to 152 Mbps and 314 Mbps, starting from GBP 54.99 and GBP 59.99 per month respectively. Both packages include the new Smart Hub Wi-Fi router.

Based on Openreach's network roll-out, the new speeds are available to more than 250,000 homes across the UK. The operator plans to expand this to 12 million homes by 2020, through a combination of G.fast upgrades for the copper network and FTTP roll-out.
