BT, Ofcom still far apart on Openreach regulation - report

Negotiations between Ofcom and BT over a voluntary deal to transform Openreach into a legally separate company have hit an impasse, with the two sides refusing to bridge a "substantive gap" in their views on two key governance issues, the Financial Times reports. Meetings between BT CEO Gavin Patterson and Ofcom CEO Sharon White failed to reach an agreement to satisfy the regulator's demands for more independence for Openreach, according to the paper's sources. Negotiations have not substantially moved on since July, said people close to the talks, who described the issues still on the table
