BT shareholder calls for talks on Openreach separation

BT shareholder Aviva Investors has called for the operator to open discussions about a possible sale of its infrastructure arm Openreach. BT has been under pressure from rivals to separate Openreach completely, amid suspicions it benefits too much from having the network arm in-house. The regulator Ofcom has said it's considering imposing a greater independence on Openreach. Trevor Green, Aviva's head of UK equities, told City A.M that the investor would discuss the options for Openreach when it meets with BT's finance director.
