BTG, SURFnet start testing eSIM

The association of large telecom users in the Netherlands, BTG has started testing embedded SIMs with a number of technology partners. The tests supported switching SIMs remotely from one network to another, something expected to benefit BTG members using mobile connectivity to control large numbers of devices. The tests also looked at running secure applications on the SIM. This will allow enterprise applications to be run over the SIM, as well as using the SIM for authentication, for example to access protected networks or gateways.
