Cable operators lead growth in US broadband market in Q2

US ISPs added a net 360,000 broadband customers in the second quarter for a total of nearly 88.9 million subscribers, according to Leichtman Research Group. Its figures are based on the seventeen largest cable and telecom operators in the US, representing about 94 percent of the market. The cable companies added about 515,000 customers in the three months to June, for a total of about 53.5 million broadband subscribers, while the telecom companies saw their total fall over the same period by about 150,000 to 35.4 million subscribers.
