California proposes new enforcement laws for Consumer Privacy Act

Friday 11 October 2019 | 09:41 CET | News
California has proposed new regulations aimed at enforcing the California Consumer Privacy Act, the privacy law set to go into effect on 1 January, Reuters reported. The move follows a rejection by the state's Senate in May of tough enforcement laws. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra released his agency's draft of new regulations during a press conference. The proposed law allows people to request that data be deleted and gives them the opportunity to opt out of having their information sold to a third party, notably with a "Do Not Sell My Info" link on company websites or apps.
