Canal Plus International has acquired from BeIN Sports the French language rights to show Ligue 1 football matches in sub-Saharan Africa during the six seasons running from 2018/2019 to 2023/2024, confirming earlier press reports about a deal. The broadcaster already holds the French language rights for the current three-season cycle (2015/2016 to 2017/2018). The agreement with BeIN Sports also cover France's second-tier Ligue 2, alongside the Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee des Champions tournaments.

Canal Plus customers in Africa will also be offered for three more seasons all the UEFA Champions League matches, starting from August. Other major highlights in the broadcaster's football line-up include the FIFA World Cup in Russia, starting in June, and the Total Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Total) taking place in Cameroon next summer.
