Canal Plus channels unveil new branding, programming

Monday 27 June 2016 | 14:48 CET | News
French pay-TV provider Canal Plus has confirmed plans to reduce the amount of free-to-air programming it shows and strengthen its offering of sports and films in order to attract more subscribers. From September, its main pay channel will drop from around five hours of unencrypted programming each day to two hours. The company promises another 150 hours per month of encrypted programmes, focusing on top content. The free-to-air channel D8, which will be rebranded C8 to align better with Canal Plus branding, will also get new content, and the new channel iTele will be rebranded CNews.
