French pay TV operator Canal Plus and telecom operator Orange France have dropped their plan to form a 50/50 joint venture between Canal Plus's TPS Star service and Orange's film and TV series channels, La Tribune reports. A new plan to see Canal Plus buy a minority stake in Orange's channels was announced on 26 May to Orange Cinema Series' works council. This approach will avoid the scrutiny and possible rejection of the operation by France's competition authority.
