Canitec urges competition watchdog to ratify Telcel fine

Mexican cable TV operators' association Canitec has urged Mexico's competition watchdog CFC to ratify the decision to impose a MXN 12 billion (approximately USD 1 billion) fine on Telcel, Notimex reports. Back in April, the regulator ruled that Telcel abused its dominant position in the market by charging excessive fees for network access, hindering competition. The fine imposed on Telcel on 7 April followed a four-year investigation by Mexico's Federal Competition Commission (CFC).
