Car Connectivity Consortium moves forward with digital key specification for mobile devices

The Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) said it has completed Phase One of its Digital Key specification. Digital Key is an interoperable system that lets smart devices such as smartphones and smartwatches act like a digital key for any vehicle. These digital keys can allow drivers to lock or unlock a car, start the engine and share access to the vehicle. The Phase One specification is undergoing final member review and will be made available to all CCC members in the second quarter.
