Carphone Warehouse confirms UK security breach
Dixons Carphone confirmed that the IT systems of a UK division of Carphone Warehouse have been breached by a major cyber attack. This division operates the Mobiles.co.uk, e2save.com and OneStopPhoneShop.com websites. It also provides a number of services to iD Mobile, TalkTalk Mobile, Talk Mobile and to certain customers of Carphone Warehouse. 

Dixons Carphone said it has implemented additional security measures and opened an investigation with a cyber security company to determine exactly what was affected. Initial investigations indicate that hackers may have accessed personal data including name, address, date of birth and bank details of up to 2.4 million customers. In addition, the encrypted credit card data of up to 90,000 customers may also have been accessed.

Retailer Dixons Carphone has announced the appointment of Graham Stapleton as Chief Executive Officer of Connected World Services (CWS) with immediate effect. UK govt sets up new cyber skills education fund

Minister for the Digital Economy, Ed Vaizey, is advising UK businesses to adopt the Government's Cyber Essentials scheme to protect themselves from cyber attacks. Dixons Carphone has agreed to sell The Phone House Portugal to Digital Place, a company owned by the shareholders of regional telecoms retailer and wholesaler TLCI. BT wins 5-year Dixons Carphone IT network contract

UK retailer Dixons Carphone has selected BT to provide a new IT network to help reduce costs and improve the in-store shopping experience for customers. Under a 5-year contract, BT will deliver a network to carry all of the retailer's voice and data traffic supporting its 1,200 stores, offices, data centres, contact centres and supply chain operations nationwide. Eishtec delivers customer service for new Irish MVNO

Ireland's newest mobile operator, iD, has selected Eishtec as its customer service provider. Eishtec will provide customer care from its headquarters in Waterford, where the iD customer call centre and technical support will be based. The new MVNO is owned by Dixons Carphone and is set to launch operations later in summer 2015 using the network of 3 Ireland.
