Cartel chief express concerns about Telekom throttling plans

Friday 31 May 2013 | 14:04 CET | News
The President of Germany's Federal Cartel Office, Andreas Mundt, has expressed concerns about Deutsche Telekom's plans to impose data restrictions on fixed-line broadband customers. He told the 'Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung' newspaper that if Telekom allowed some content providers to pay to avoid their content being throttled, then this could have serious implications for competition as Telekom has an extremely strong position in the broadband market. He said that this could lead to considerable restrictions on market access with smaller players unable to pay for priority treatment.
