Cassava Smartech Zimbabwe says regulatory controls constrain EcoCash

Thursday 8 October 2020 | 11:25 CET | News
EcoCash parent firm Cassava Smartech Zimbabwe  (CSZL) says the performance of the mobile money platform has been hit hard by seven major regulatory directives in the past six months, causing its contribution to group revenue to decline, Bulawayo24/7 reported. In the period ending August, the directives led EcoCash transaction volumes to drop to less than 800 million from over 1 billion for the same period in 2019. The mobile money platform's share on the National Payments System has slumped to 19 percent from 30 percent.
