Charter asks FCC to end data cap, other restrictions imposed for merger clearance

Charter Communications has filed a petition to the FCC, asking it to let go of some conditions imposed on its merger with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, completed in May 2016. The prohibition on data caps and usage-based pricing conditions were slated to end in 2021 but Charter is arguing that market conditions have changed and that the FCC could end them sooner.
