Chile extends operator 'solidarity plans' until end of June
Chile’s Transport and Telecommunications Ministry MTT and telecommunications regulator Subtel announced that the special plans made available by the country’s operators to ensure that users of mobile and fixed line services remain connected during the coronavirus emergency have been extended until the end of June. The ‘Plan Solidario’ signed with Atelmo’s member companies Movistar (Telefonica), Entel, Claro (America Movil), VTR and Grupo GTD, plus WOM, Mundo Pacifico and CMET allowed users unable to keep up to date with payments for reasons of force majeure to access a free 60-day emergency bundle from 01 April.

That has now been extended by another 30 days, allowing users to access bundles including fixed internet at speeds of up to 2Mbps for those on a fixed line contract, 300 minutes of calls, 50 SMS and unlimited data at speeds of 256Kbps for those on a mobile contract and free access to certain social networks and government sites for those on an active prepay plan.
