Chile launches Digital Agenda plan to double broadband users

Chilean president Michelle Bachelet has launched the country's Digital Agenda 2020 plan, vowing to reduce the digital divide and double broadband penetration to 90 percent over the next five years. Although around 67 percent of Chilean households currently have access to the internet, the rate stands at just 42 percent in rural areas, said Bachelet, who also committed to bringing high-speed broadband to all of the country's state schools and expanding public Wi-Fi access to nine out of ten communes. The Digital Agenda 2020 plan contained a total of 60 measures to be developed via public and
