Chile to be first LatAm country served by Starlink satellites

Tuesday 6 July 2021 | 11:42 CET | News
Chile will be the first country in Latin America to use SpaceX's satellite internet service Starlink to help close its digital divide, confirmed telecommunications regulator Subtel. In a statement, the watchdog said it teamed up with Starlink to explore the technical feasibility of conducting pilots in rural and isolated communities that currently lack adequate digital connectivity. As a result Starlink agreed to initially deliver its services to schools in Caleta Sierra (Coquimbo region) and Sotomo (Los Lagos region).
