Chilean court dismisses spectrum hoarding claim

Wednesday 29 July 2015 | 16:08 CET | News
Chile's Court of Defence of Free Competition (TDLC, Tribunal de Defensa de la Libre Competencia) has dismissed a complaint lodged by consumer group Conadecus against mobile operators Entel, Movistar and Claro, reports Telesemana. The complaint accused the operators of hoarding the 700 MHz spectrum, on the grounds that each obtained more than the 60 MHz cap set by the Supreme Court in 2009. The TDLC said Conadecus lacked standing to lodge the complaint and ordered the consumer association to pay the costs of the proceedings, which have held up the handover of spectrum in the 700 MHz band.
