Chilean regions to invest USD 68 mln to bring fibre to 468 localities

Four regional governments in Chile have approved investments totalling some USD 68 million to bring fiber-optic service to 468 localities, reports business daily Diario Financiero. The regions of Maule, Aysen, Biobio and Los Lagos gave their approval to preliminary projects sent by telecommunications regulator Subtel, which has been tasked with allocated some USD 215 million nationally to connect digital divide localities.
