Chile's Comptroller General backs national FON fibre project

Chilean telecommunications regulator Subtel announced that the country's Comptroller General has given the go-ahead for the proposed National Fibre Optic (FON) project announced by president Sebastian Pinera in May. The initiative is designed to double the current capacity of the country's fibre-optic network by rolling out 10,000 kilometres of cables across 13 regions, with 202 access nodes spread across a total of 186 localities.
