Chile's WOM planning to launch fixed line service

Wednesday 12 February 2020 | 12:22 CET | News
Chilean mobile operator WOM is planning to launch a fixed line service in the near future and has already begun testing fibre-optic services in the capital Santiago, reports business daily Diaro Financiero. The operator obtained a fixed services licence from Chilean telecommunications regulator Subtel around 5 months ago and is conducting a trial of the broadband service in the locality of Nunua, part of the greater Santiago metropolitan area. The aim is to install an initial 5 connection points to test the service before replicating it elsewhere, said the report.
