China calls on EU to avoid trade protectionist measures

China has urged the European Union not to engage in trade protectionism after reports that Karel De Gucht, European Commissioner for Trade, is hoping to start an investigation into ZTE and Huawei Technologies on subsidies. De Gucht is reportedly seeking support from senior members of the EC to start an investigation into allegations that the Chinese government supports Huawei and ZTE with subsidies, allowing them to sell their products at unfairly low prices in the EU, the Wall Street Journal reports.
