China Mobile has opened its first subsidiary in France to offer telecom services mainly targeting Chinese businesses operating in the country, reports Les Echos. Based in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), the subsidiary has a team of approximately ten employees and has an ambitious growth target for the current year.

Like its rivals China Telecom and China Unicom, already present in France, it sees the potential of the millions of Chinese businesses running activities in the country. Their number has risen by 20 percent in 2017 compared to 2016, said the company.

To strengthen its position, China Mobile has recently signed a new agreement with Orange to collaborate on R&D projects, particularly in the 5G and IoT sectors. Alongside AT&T, DT and Docomo, the two partners have also recently created the ORAN Alliance.
