China Mobile requires 5 mobile standards for TD-LTE phones

From end May, China Mobile will require that all TD-LTE smartphones support five mobile standards: TD-LTE, FDD LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, and GSM. The company had changed its policy for TD-LTE handsets at the end of last year, with models priced around CNY 1,000 only requiring three standards (TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, and GSM) to speed up the rollout of TD-LTE phones. However, the operator now requires five standards on all phones, the Digitimes reports.
