China Mobile to complete further TD-LTE trials in June

China Mobile aims to complete the next phase of its 4G network trials by June. In September the company completed first phase trials of TD-LTE technology in six cities with 850 base stations. The trials featured seven network equipment vendors including Huawei Technologies, ZTE, and Alcatel-Lucent. With the move to TD-LTE, China Mobile hopes to have broader support from international handset makers as its current 3G technology standard does not support many popular devices. The next phase will look at large scale commercial use, the Shanghai Daily writes citing Bill Huang, general manager of China Mobile's Research Institute.
