China Mobile's 9-month profit grows 3%, revenue slightly declines

China Mobile posted operating revenue of CNY 567.7 billion for the first three quarters of 2018, which represents a decline of 0.3 percent year-on-year. Revenue from telecommunications services was CNY 518.4 billion, up by 0.6 percent over the same period last year. EBITDA was CNY 214.1 billion, up by 3.1 percent over the same period of 2017, while profit reached CNY 95 billion, up by 3.1 percent year-on-year.

China Mobile ended September with 916 million mobile customers. Among them, 4G customers amounted to 695 million, representing a net increase of 45.78 million for the first three quarters. Data traffic growth accelerated, with handset data traffic recording a 172 percent increase year-on-year, equal to an increase of 19 percentage points from the growth rate in first half of 2018. ARPU of mobile customers stood at CNY 55.7 for the first three quarters.

As of 30 September, the total number of wireline broadband customers reached 147 million, following a net increase of 34.13 million for the first three quarters. ARPU of wireline broadband customers was CNY 34.3.
