China orders Tencent to eliminate exclusive music licensing deals with global record labels

China's antitrust authority, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), has ordered Tencent to end its exclusive music licensing deals with global record labels within 30 days, South China Morning Post reports. Tencent has also been fined CNY 500,000 (approximately USD 77,143) by China's antitrust authorities for its dominant position in the country's online music-streaming business, following the purchase of China Music in 2016.
