China Telecom launches mobile payments service
China Telecom has released its mobile wallet service in cooperation with over ten banks. The "E-Surfing Mobile Wallet" includes an NFC payment service and China Telecom customers can get a free Sim card that supports NFC at customer service centres from 23 December, the Marbridge Daily writes citing a 21st Century Business Herald report. The company plans to release 30 million NFC-enabled UIM cards in early 2014.

China's central bank drafting m-payments rules

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) said the central bank is drafting new mobile payments rules, Xinhua reports. The rules aim to encourage innovation, unify the mobile payments market, include all market players, and allow the market to play the leading role, Fan Shuangwen, deputy head of PBOC's Department of Payment and Settlement, said at an industry conference. China Telecom and Aishang Dianshi have partnered on IPTV. China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has awarded more trial TD-LTE spectrum to mobile operators. China Mobile will get an extra 130 MHz in the 1880-1900 MHz, 2320-2370 MHz and 2575-2635 MHz bands, while China Unicom will get 40 MHz of spectrum in the 2300-2320 MHz and 2555-2575 MHz bands. China Mobile ends October with 176 mln 3G subs

China Mobile attracted 4.09 million new mobile customers in October to bring its total to 759.27 million. The total includes 176.02 million 3G customers. China Telecom, Gehua offer Wi-Fi television service

China Telecom Beijing together with local cable and broadband operator Gehua CATV Network have begun offering TV services via Wi-Fi. The service is available at the Beijing South railway station and offers live TV programming from Gehua's "Fly TV," a cable TV-to-WLAN TV service.
