China Telecom revenues grow nearly 4%, profit up 3.3% in 2017
China Telecom reported operating revenues of CNY 366.2 billion for the twelve months of 2017, which represents an increase of 3.9 percent from 2016. Service revenues amounted to CNY 331 billion, up by 6.9 percent year-on-year. EBITDA reached CNY 102.1 billion, up by 7.4 percent year-on-year, and the EBITDA margin rose 0.2 points to 30.9 percent. Profit increased 3.3 percent to CNY 18.6 billion, while basic earnings per share were CNY 0.23 in 2017. 

China Telecom recommended a final dividend of HKD 0.115 per share for the year 2017, representing an increase of 9.5 percent compared to 2016.

China Telecom ended 2017 with 250 million mobile subscribers, with a net increase of 34.96 million in the 12-month period, of which the number of 4G users reached 182 million, a net increase of 60.17 million. 4G users accounted for 73 percent of the operator’s total mobile subscriber base, while the aggregate handset data traffic jumped 182 percent year-on-year.

At 31 December 2017, China Telecom also had 134 million wireline broadband subscribers, following a net increase of 10.41 million in the year, of which FTTH subscribers reached 126 million, with a net increase of 20.18 million.
