China to strengthen intellectual property rights protection

China has announced plans to improve protection for intellectual property rights, including increasing the upper limits for compensation for rights infringements, Reuters reports, citing an opinion document released by the State Council and Communist Party's Central Office. The document calls for increased protection through both the civil and criminal justice systems and an effective enforcement of penalties.
