Chinese vendors grab 51% of India smartphone market in Q1

Around 27 million smartphones were shipped in India in the first quarter of 2017, which represents a 14.8 percent growth year-on-year. But unlike last year, shipments grew sequentially in the first quarter of 2017 by 4.7 percent recovering from demonetization impact in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to a report from IDC. The report further indicates that China-based vendors continue to strengthen their position of the Indian smartphone market. In the first quarter of 2017, China-based vendors captured 51.4 percent share of the smartphone shipments in India with 16.9 percent sequential
