CHT Holdings to launch nationwide Dominican fibre service this month

Monday 9 December 2019 | 10:53 CET | News
CHT Holdings Dominicana announced plans to launch fibre-optic services in the Dominican Republic later this month using a submarine cable owned and operated exclusively by Telefonica's infrastructure subsidiary Telxius. In a statement, CHT said it has indefeasible rights to use the full capacity of the cable via its landing station, located in Punta Cana. Its aim is to bridge the country's digital divide by taking advantage of the operator licence granted by telecommunications regulator Indotel to democratise internet access when it launches its offer before the end of 2019.
