
Chunghwa Telecom has unveiled a new organizational structure that will come into effect next year. The launch is part of the company’s “Rise on Together, 2021” strategic plan unveiled three years ago to boost competitiveness under a customer-centric organizational structure. Chunghwa chairman Sheih Chi-Mau said the company completed most of its transformation, and that the new organizational structure includes headquarters, three business groups and three tech groups. The plan also boosted the company’s financial performance, which turned positive in 2020 and achieved continued growth for two consecutive years despite headwinds caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the plan, all of the company’s business units in charge of the enterprise business reorganized on 1 July into one business group. From next year, the Consumer Business Group, Enterprise Business Group and International Business Group, as well as the technology related units including the Network Technology Group, Data Communications Business Group and Telecommunication Laboratories, will begin to operate. Chunghwa noted that the new structure will also enable the headquarters to enhance strategic planning and coordinating capabilities based on a customer-centric mindset, and so lead change.
The newly established Consumer Business Group and Network Technology Group held an inaugural ceremony on the final working day of 2021. Chunghwa believes that combining the existing Enterprise Business Group, Data Communications Business Group, International Business Group and the Telecommunication Laboratories should help it further its ambition to become more customer-focused.
Going forward, the Consumer Business Group will develop consumer and home based service to satisfy the increasing demand for safe, convenient, healthy and entertaining smart life. The group aims to becomes the leading smart life service provider by offering differentiated services and creating values to consumers, families, and communities.
The Network Technology Group will provide an ICT infrastructure platform to meet internet demand, and build a new-generation cloud-based intelligent network with software-centric technologies. The group is aiming to establish a common-network, common-management, clouded-site, innovative and intelligent infrastructure, and to provide high-quality and forward-looking network services.
