Cinenova stops broadcasting

Dutch Pay TV provider Cinenova has stopped broadcasting after five years. Cinenova did not manage to get enough subscribers. Due to disappointing sales, UPC stopped transmitting Cinenova in May. This decision was already evident in the annual report of UPC's mother company UGC. In the annual report it says there a once off measure was taken to resolve a conflict with MovieCo, the Brititsh holding company behind Cinenova. UPC has a ten percent stake in MovieCo, Sony and Disney each have a 45 percent stake. Earlier, UPC tried to dissolve the agreement with Cinenova via the courts since the
