Cisco, Apple unveil enterprise partnership

Cisco will optimise its networks for iOS devices and apps and integrate the iPhone system with its enterprise environments after signing a partnership deal with Apple. The two companies will create a “fast lane” for iOS business users, providing unique collaboration on iPhones and iPads, they said.

To address the demands on corporate infrastructure, Cisco networks and iOS devices will be optimised so that they work together more efficiently and reliably, with the goal of providing users with greater performance. Apple and Cisco will also work together to make iPhone a better business collaboration tool in Cisco voice and video environments, with the goal of providing employees with a seamless experience between iPhone and their desk phone.

With Apple's support, Cisco will deliver experiences specially made for iOS across mobile, cloud, and premises-based collaboration tools such as Cisco Spark, Cisco Telepresence and Cisco WebEx in order to deliver seamless team collaboration and reinvent the meeting experience.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the deal will help give businesses the tools to maximize the potential of iOS. Cisco CEO John Chambers said the partnership will marry Cisco environments with iOS devices, helping businesses achieve higher levels of productivity and effectiveness.
