Cisco unveiled its new 'Infinite’ suite of cloud-powered video products. This new platform is aimed at service providers, broadcasters and media companies that want to deliver TV experiences to multiple screens, using one cloud, on any access network, within the home and on the go. Two services make up the Infinite product line, namely Infinite Home and Infinite Video. Both deliver full-featured linear, on-demand and time-shift TV video experiences. More specifically, the first delivers TV video to any screen over two-way cable and telco networks, while the second provides TV video to a variety of consumer electronics devices via unmanaged ‘over-the-top’ (OTT) internet connections.
Among the suite's presented benefits are the short time it takes to launch a new video service, namely 90 days, minutes instead of months to activate service enhancements and weekly or more frequent software updates and feature enhancements.
