Cisco, Inphi partner on co-packaged optics for next generation of switches

Cisco and Inphi announced a new cooperation to develop open standards for co-packaged optics in the next generation of network switches. The aim is to drive the emerging industry forward and ensure interoperability between silicon and optical engines from different companies. Inphi said the partnership should ensure customers have access to "a diverse and open ecosystem and interoperable best of breed technologies from a variety of suppliers".
