Cisco launches unified 'Network-as-a-Fabric' service

Cisco has announced an expansion of its Cloud-Scale Networking portfolio to create what it describes as the industry's first "Network-as-a-Fabric". In a statement, the company said the expanded offering will help service providers and web companies take full advantage of software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualisation (NFV) as they transition their central offices to next-generation data centres. The newly-launched capabilities include EVPN (Ethernet Virtual Private Network), which provides separation between the data plane and the control plane, Segment Routing
