Cisco loses enterprise collaboration lead to Microsoft in Q1

Microsoft has overcome Cisco's lead in enterprise collaboration infrastructure sales in the first quarter of 2014, according to data from Synergy Research Group. Revenues from collaboration – which includes enterprise voice, UC applications, telepresence, email software, collaborative workspace software and enterprise social networks – totalled USD 5.4 billion in the quarter, with Microsoft's overall share coming in at 21.3 percent, compared to Cisco's 20.8 percent. Cisco, which had started the quarter about two percentage points ahead, was hurt by softness in voice and telepresence sales
